Dental Surgeries - both Private and NHS

Academy of Birmingham Cosmetic and General Dentistry

12 Waterloo St, Birmingham B2 5TB, UK – 0121 633 8833

Great experience, perfect treatment. No pain at all. I can highly recommend Dr Joo if you need a dental treatment.

Friendly, easy going yet professional service. I can highly recommend the services at ABC Dentistry. Very good value for money. Despite I am moving to the Netherlands I will be back for the recommended check up for sure! Thank you!

The Dentist At Liberty Place

Sheepcote St, Birmingham B16 8AE, UK – 0121 633 9535

Without doubt this practice is the best dentist in Birmingham. After trying a few private dentists before making an investment into Invisalign treatment and tooth whitening, I knew I was in such safe hands here with both my dentist and orthodontist after my very first consultation. I have transformed my whole smile and I wish I had done it so much sooner! The staff were so professional, kind and helpful and I was able to have most of my appointments on Saturdays! I also now bring my little girl for her routine dental health appointments and she just loves it! How amazing. Thank you all so much.

I recently had my children registered with this Dental Practice as I felt I was not getting the best advice from our previous Dental Practice and its the best decision I have made. Staff are friendly. Nice clean waiting rooms. Best thing is my kids enjoy their visits to the dentists. I would recommend this practice to everyone especially for young kids. The dentists go above and beyond their duty of care. The Dentist picked up few problems with one of my children's tooth which our previous dentist had not, which lead to tooth decay. Thankfully my child has begun their treatment and everything is right as rain. 5 stars from me.

MiSmile® Birmingham - Invisalign®

Burlington Court, New St, Birmingham B2 4JD, UK – 0121 633 4100

I just had my initial consultation today and I was able to see the potential result of my teeth! Parm answered all of my questions and ensured that I fully understood the entire process. She was very patient and friendly and made us feel very welcome! I was sent a visualisation of how my teeth might look and I'm so excited to continue on with this journey :)

Just had a digital scan - impressed by the way they explained everything and the results look amazing. Fascinating to see the end result. Brilliant !

Doctors serving the Birmingham area

Small Heath Medical Practice

2 Great Wood Rd, Birmingham B10 9QE, UK – 0121 766 8828

I would agree with other reviewers about the doctors being respectful and attentive to the needs of patients. Dr Sweeney is by far the best doctor here , in my opinion. They do have a habit now of getting things wrong- my prescription was sent to a pharmacy for no reason at all without my instruction or consent. Compounding matters even further, the wrong items were issued so i had to go back to the surgery. Such errors are tremendously inconvenient and have been occuring with a disturbing frequency. Occasionally receptionists can be a little rude but as its not an endemic problem i just put it down to a bad day, they do have to contend with a whole array of different patients from the pleasant to the pugnacious.

Always been a first rate medical centre with innovative ideas. Can't recall a situation that warranted a complaint. I've been under their care over 45 years!

Hockley Medical Practice

60 Carver St, Birmingham B1 3AL, UK – 0121 554 1757

Great Doctor's practice, modern, light, has a pharmacy attached. The staff are great, the doctors are good, really talk to you about your problems and what the best course of action is. Massive difference compared to my last Doctor's. Thank you to all the staff for making this such a good place to visit.

Karis Medical Centre

Waterworks Rd, Birmingham B16 9AL, UK – 0121 455 0542

Excellent practice Great doctors who are always extremely helpful I can’t praise Dr Cartwright enough and I’m shocked by the comments about the receptionists always professional and courteous

Doctors are fantastic but they have a big problem with the receptionists. They don't have a clue about good manners or emotional intelligence. It is a pity!

NHS and Private Hospitals in B19 and throughout West Midlands

Birmingham City Hospital

Dudley Rd, Birmingham B18 7QH, UK – 0121 553 1831

We had our daughter at Birmingham City maternity ward a few days ago. We were in the Halcyon and Serenity birthing centres, followed by the delivery ward. The care from the midwives and doctors was incredible at every stage. Truly humbling. The birthing centres are fantastic facilities with everything we needed and more. We'll never forget the encouragement, support, smiles, hugs and kind words from the team. Thank you.

Serenity birthing suite is excellent! All the midwife's are worth they're weight in gold! They go above and beyond and really care for everyone!

Birmingham Treatment Centre

He has helped me through some very challenging times and is so much more knowledgeable and caring than any NHS GP I've ever seen. I will always use this practice for many years to come

Excellent vaccination service able to get vaccines very quickly that other clinics and NHS were unable to obtain. All staff very friendly and efficient. Highly recommend.

I got my mole removed today at this clinic and I just hope the scar heals asap and well. I am seriously very pleased and thankful to them. They welcomed me in and offered me tea and coffee, staff very kind and helpful. Christos answered my questions really well and explained the procedure and it was not painful at all but few hours after the procedure it does hurt a little but it's fine, trust me guys this is the clinic you need to try and you will not be disappointed.

Can't thank you enough to Gary primarily and also Jess and Rachel for helping me sort out my nightmare with flights to Australia. Thanks for making it possible for me to go home and see my family you guys :) Will be sticking with STA travel for sure and with this branch in particular.

Really friendly staff with loads of travel advice and suggestions. Good prices and offers but they're not pushy about it.

Broadway Health Centre

Cope St, Birmingham B18 7BA, UK – 0121 250 6105

I went there in emergency with my niece. It was a Saturday and I was lucky to find GP there. She was really good she seen her condition and she asked her to take to children hospital because she needed to admit. She phone children hospital and explain everything to doctor prior to our visit. She also gave us letter and told to show there. And that’s it. because of her effort we didn’t had to wait long in children hospital other wise their normal time of waiting are really long. With in 30 min we seen a doctor and she got admitted to the hospital. Thank you

NHS direct provided an appointment after I reported severe stomach and lower back pain. Doctor was superb and very efficient. Diagnosed kidney stones. Relieved and impressed by service. Appointment was quickly made and on time.

Ladywood Health and Community Centre

222 St Vincent St W, Birmingham B16 8RP, UK – 0121 464 8625

The reason I gave this 4 stars is because the people are nice and the place is always clean... but improvement is definitely necessary.... for example, uniforms... polo and jeans or same colour because we can't tell the workers from the clients...

Fantastic place to go so welcoming a proper community centre as it should be everyone's welcome and Wednesday Thursday and Friday your welcome to come and eat with the community

City Road Medical Centre

5 City Rd, Birmingham B16 0HH, UK – 0121 456 3322

A great doctor who gives each patient his full attention. When I was worried about my health he didn’t ignore it but went the full mile to ensure I had the peace of mind I needed.

Doctor is brilliant and receptionist very helpful and nice. You can get quick appointments not like the other GP in Birmingham.

Melville House Nursing Home

Melville House, 68-70 Portland Rd, Birmingham B16 9QU, UK – 0121 455 7003

This home provides the highest standard of care I have seen, the care staff are the most attentive and caring people I have observed in a long time. The cook and her team provide a wonderful choice and standard of food. Andrew the manager is very client focused and has a proactive approach to his leadership style. My Father spent the last 6 weeks of his life here and he became very fond of the staff as they did of him. The building and decor need attention and investment, but as the daughter of a client I can not praise this home enough

Church Rose Nursing Home

Edwin Arrowsmith House, 8 Payton Rd, Birmingham B21 0HP, UK – 0121 554 6413

This place is really nice they look after my relative really, really well.

Barchester - Edgbaston Beaumont Care Home

32 St James Rd, Birmingham B15 2NX, UK – 0121 440 0421

I attended Edgbaston Beaumont Care Home to carry out educational training. When I arrived, I was made to feel welcome straight away. The Care Home is very well presented, hidden behind beautiful gardens that the rooms over look. All of the staff were very engaging and focused on quality of care first when discussing best practise. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and I would personally like to thank the manager Debi for her support! One of the best care homes I've been to.

My father in law stayed at Ebgbaston Beaumont Care home in February this year and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. He went in for a weeks respite care whilst my wife and I went away but never having done it before we had real reservations about his care and well being, we need not have worried, we had a couple of calls from the home just to let us know he was okay, and when we collected him he said he would recommend the place to anyone. The room was beautiful, overlooking the gardens, the food was superb, and he even joined in the activities (which we thought he would be reluctant to do) all of our fears were brushed away. We plan to go away again soon and Pa is quite looking forward to returning to the home. We can wholeheartedly recommend Edgbaston Beaumont Care home, the staff were very caring, and attentive, and quite a few came to say goodbye when he left, which was a nice touch.

Accupuncture

City Acupuncture

18 Lower Temple St, Birmingham B2 4JD, UK – 07798 622788

I first tried acupuncture many years ago and it helped me with a cold but when I had a serious stomach condition I didn't think about acupuncture until I went to Mark. He sorted me out in no time at all and everything is fine now. He is very professional and really puts you at ease. I am a little wary of the whole chi thing but Mark is not at all 'away with the fairies', he's down to earth and very knowledgeable. He knows his anatomy and physiology as well as his Chinese Medicine meridians, I really enjoy the explanations he gives as to why a point is useful for such or such condition. And it's true you do come out of the sessions beautifully relaxed and revitalised. He's fully trustworthy and I highly recommend him. A++++

Birmingham Chinese Medicine Clinic

205F, the Big Peg, 120 Vyse Street, Birmingham B18 6JS, UK – 0121 293 8587

Amazing service. Able to fit me in on less than a days notice. The practitioner was extremely knowledgeable and was able to explain my problem much better than any GP I had been to. He took the time for the necessary treatments to be completed and explained why he was performing each treatment. I Felt amazing afterwards, the pain I was experiencing had completely gone and I felt my muscles and joints were much more mobile! First time trying Chinese medicine methods and it won't be the last!

The only thing to solve my back pain! I've been going for a few months now, religiously. The acupuncture really works to relieve my back pain, I also receive cupping and massages in the same session if required. Kevin is great at identifying the issues within my body and figuring out how to best treat them. I always feel like I leave a different person to when I arrived! Can highly recommend!

Dr Hua Shen Acupuncture

Tried Hua for acupuncture for my second IVF attempt. Both my husband and I strongly believe this acupuncture played a big part in my IVF being a success. Thank you Hua, will see you again when I start planning for next baby.

Chiro Relief

43 George Rd, Birmingham B15 1PL, UK – 0121 448 9539

Robert is both professional and friendly. He made my first visit very relaxing despite me being nervous, not knowing what to expect and I would highly recommend him to you as well. I've been visiting Robert probably for the last 8 years now. I did my research on local chiropractors at the time and Robert's practice was the most suitable. His very knowledgeable about his work and regularly shares best posture techniques to resolve any issues I have. He managed to pin point my back issues with extreme accuracy and cure my suffering. I have recommend Robert many times to family members and friends, who have never been disappointed with my recommendation.

I've been visiting Rob at Chiro relief for maybe 10 (?) years now for regular maintenance on a dodgy back, after recommendation from a friend. Have recommended him to others who have also liked working with him. Good bloke, fairly easy to get shortish notice appts, and unlike many clinics there is no pressure to pre-book a course or anything.

Homeopathy around Birmingham

World Of Homeopathy

115, Zellig, The Custard Factory, Birmingham B9 4AT, UK – 0121 296 5268

I recommend World of Homeopathy to everyone. Fiona's help, guidance and support has been amazing. The food intolerance reports are eye opening and have helped my family and I make the right changes for us. These, along with the consultations, have ensured we are on the right path to a supporting our bodies and minds. Would highly recommend World of Homeopathy.

I cannot recommend the food intolerance tests that World of Homeopathy offer enough! The service was so easy to use and the team (Bernie and Fiona) were so helpful and really went beyond my expectations. I not only found out about food intolerances but the test also includes vitamin and mineral deficiencies which are so important to be aware of. The advice of both Bernie and Fiona in the report I received was also excellent. After reading my report my family and friends are now having food intolerance tests done, including all of the young children, which is great to see! Many thanks again to Bernie and Fiona

Specsavers Opticians Birmingham - New Street

14-15 New St, Birmingham B2 4RQ, UK – 0121 616 2220

Service here is relatively good. Appointments seem to run a bit behind sometimes, but generally are prompt and staff are friendly. Had new lenses put in existing frames recently and the process was simple, left them at the store, returned an hour and a half later and they were ready. Only small gripe was the lady who initially greeted me seemed a little... off, compared to the others... I understand their computer systems went down so perhaps she was having a bad day. The other sales people I spoke to were very polite and helpful though. Would recommend this store to others.

I've been in here with friends and was always impressed by staff but not this time. I went for a heating test and they asked why. I was then offered a questionnaire on machine and it took a while to understand the instructions as the staff wasn't clear. She told me to put to earphone on the right ear instead of right ears. After the test which proved I needed a full test they told me I had to be referred by go or pay to go private. They could have saved me the trouble but telling me that in the first place. I shan't be going back there

Vision Express Opticians

SU522 Middle Hall, Bull Ring, Birmingham B5 4BE, UK – 0121 643 3324

Excellent staff who are friendly and make having your eyes tested relaxing and fun. However, I asked for the measurement of my pupillary distance and was told, unless I purchased glasses from them, they would not give me this information. I understand this is "not part of the service", however, withholding this information is done purely so you do not take your prescription and buy your frames elsewhere. Considering your pupillary distance can be easily measured and obtained online or via an app; it's very off-putting that opticians are still withholding this information so you feel you have no other option but to buy frames from them. I'd feel more inclined to shop for frames at Vision Express if they were more helpful, provided the information their customers wanted, and didn't rely on shady tactics to get you to buy frames from them.

Rude telephone receptionist, false reassurance and delay in getting my glasses are the reason I'm giving a 1 star. I was informed it would take up to a max of 3 weeks. At 3 weeks on Fridat, i went to the shop and was told I would be contacted directly coming Tuesday. Tuesday comes no phone call. I keep calling and get through on wednesday. A female employee picks up the phone, I tell her it's almost 4 weeks, she decides to talk over me and informs me it hasn't been 4 weeks yet. Although there are 3 active work days before Christmas, she tells me I will have to wait until after Xmas. I mentioned I will be flying out of England after new years , she couldn't care less. Directly aggressive as well as passively aggressive. So I spend over £300/- on a pair of glasses and I need to wait... approximately 5 weeks. In summary, bad customer relations, bad communication and bad service in general. I doubt I'll be going here again. Addendum: after filing a complaint, the customer service were kind enough to finally prioritizing my request. I obtained my glasses soon after. 1 star changed to 3 stars.

Osteopaths

Osteopath Birmingham City Centre. The Guildhall Practice.

Cornwall Buildings, 45 Newhall Street, Birmingham B3 3QR, UK – 0121 441 2626

I have suffered from chronic lower back pain for 12 months. Over the course of the year I had been to two separate physiotherapy practices who could provide temporary pain relief but not resolve the underlying cause of the pain (each of which had over six weeks of continuous treatment). On the first session at the Guildhall Practice my therapist spent a long time fact finding about my injury and pain (the physio's spent under 15 minutes), talked me through what the injury was and how best to resolve it. Within three weeks of treatment the pain had been reduced by 70% with a huge progress being made to fixing the issue as well as relieving the physical distress. All the staff are extremely friendly, helpful and I cannot recommend this practice enough. Nothing short of excellent.

Both the wife and me see Fran for any bodily niggles that we may have. We are both into our health and fitness, so getting a regular checkup is really important. Whenever I've had an injury, Fran is incredibly talented at quickly identifying the cause, and recommending a rehabilitation program to fix the problem in the long term. I'd highly recommend Fran, and regularly recommend him to our friends.

France R Quirin - Registered Osteopath

I’ve been using France on an off for a number of years now. He is an excellent practitioner. Recently took my dad in to see him and I really appreciated his bedside manner and made my dad feel really well listen to. He has been used by number of friends who have all had good results. Brilliant to be able to access that quality of experience at affordable prices. I highly recommend.

Physiotherapy in B19

Edgbaston Physiotherapy Clinic

43 George Rd, Birmingham B15 1PL, UK – 0121 455 0555

I attended Edgbaston Physiotherapy Clinic having no idea what was wrong with my back. I’m a fit and healthy 23 year old with no health concerns other than having a painful lower back for over a week. I met with Isaak Tyros who pinpointed my pain, diagnosed and treated all within 3 weeks. He’s a master of his art and I’d fully recommend a visit. I was treated faster than it would have been to have waited to be referred by my GP. Excellent all round. Thank you Isaak.

Incredibly pleased with level of service received! The therapist was professional, clearly well versed in current research around spinal injuries/whiplash type symptoms and incredibly experienced. I was with a different therapist at a different clinic shortly before contacting Edgbaston Physiotherapy and did not feel any improvement or relief in my symptoms. After a couple of sessions with Edgbaston Physiotherapy I felt an immediate improvement and was able to gain a better understanding of how I can aid my own recovery through exercise, sitting postures etc. as well as attending the sessions. The sessions were not repetitive and each one was different and targeted at achieving results. I felt that the therapist prepared for the sessions, researched around and gave my treatment and my recovery real care and attention. Sessions were easy to book and to pay for, the therapist remained in contact for advice and assistance by email in between and the therapy rooms were clean and comfortable. Sessions took place on time and the therapist was friendly and easy to talk to. The therapist listened and understood the difficulties I was having and I felt provided me with a tailored and excellent service. My pain has almost gone, I feel I am better equipped at managing my symptoms and ensuring they don't reoccur. I would recommend the clinic a thousand times over!

St Paul's Physio

37-39 Ludgate Hill, Birmingham B3 1EH, UK – 0121 710 3738

I have been a client at St Paul's Physio over the last 3 years. I came across the practice after googling them when desperate to find someone who could help me solve my ongoing back problems. St. Paul's is the first practice I have ever managed to receive an ongoing and comprehensive course of treatment that has worked. My back issues are now resolved and I now visit occasionally for any maintenance work. Alex has been my main consultant and he is excellent. He is an expert in his field and has a clear passion for what he does which is shared by his colleagues in the practice. He has identified quickly any issues and then explained clearly what is going on whilst providing effective treatment and follow up care and appropriate excercises. I would always recommend Alex and the team as I feel I have received quality treatment which is value for money. They are also a thoroughly nice bunch of people to deal with!

Brilliant service from Alexander from start to end- he quickly diagnosed my knee issue and showed me two exercises to start doing which worked with immediate effect! This followed with 3 additional check up sessions to ensure it was all working. Overall great service and banter (!)

Achieve Physiotherapy

6 Vicarage Rd, Birmingham B15 3ES, UK – 0121 514 8866

Highly recommend! Rick helped with an injury that had hindered me for months. Always happy to explain the science behind your treatment and the exercise demonstrations were great. Hope I never have another injury that requires physio but would not hesitate to return if I did.

I suffered with Plantar fasciitis for 9 months amd went to see Achieve Physiotherapy. Ricky was fantastic. Identified the injury and cause, and proceeded with intensive treatment which by May last year allowed me to start fell running again. 12 months later I have progressed so much that I have recently ran a race over 2 minutes faster. I could not have done this without the treatment Ricky put me through. Any niggles or injuries now and I will get in touch and get it sorted asap. As a UKA and Fell Running Association running coach, I will refer my clients to Achieve Physiotherapy to have any niggles and injuries seen too.

Psychiatrists serving B19

Dr Minnie Joseph, Child & Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist

123 Hagley Rd, Birmingham B16 8LD, UK – 0121 693 0001

In my Opinion, Dr Joseph has actually provided the most legitimate and proper help I have had in at least the final few years. She has a really professional approach to helping me with the problems I face. I and my dad discuss many issues with her during our meetings and she has quite a lot of knowledge and power at her disposal- being even able to help us by contacting the school and persuading/directing them when we are unable to talk sense into them or otherwise are being ignored by them. It is reasonable to say that I underwent a very serious and stressful situation in the past year and the majority of this year, and had very dangerous and destructive states of mind, being prone to break down or lash out violently with fury burning within me. It was Dr Joseph that prescribed the correct medications for me, both last year and this year, and as I took them accordingly to how we were instructed by her, the medications where probably a major part of the help we needed, as thanks to my medication I feel pacified and calmer and happier than I have felt in a very long time, I have never lashed out or had a mental breakdown or the urge to die/harm since I took the prescribed medication and so right now It is a fair thing to say that Dr Joseph's help literally saved my life, as I dread to think what would have happened if i haven't got the correct medication or help in the time I did. Dr Joseph is very good and it is clear she is a professional, and for me seeing her when I do really helps as we address any problems, and she has a professional answer.

We took our 9 year old son to see Dr Joseph at a time of desperation. The NHS wait was too long; he was struggling with high anxiety and was a school refuser, having violent meltdowns. He was very sad and in need of help. We chose her because she came highly recommended online and had a wealth of experience in children’s mental health, inpatient and outpatient. Dr Joseph was calm and direct. She helped us see things more clearly and helped to explain our sons behaviour. She was very professional and had a wide ranging knowledge. She spoke to my son at his level and was honest and sincere in her findings. We received a very thorough and accurate report providing her opinion and diagnosis for our son, which has been accepted by the nhs team and our school. She also provided the correct medication for him which has been life changing. Dr Joseph has been a great very support to our family, even when our son didn’t want to engage with her she was able to communicate with him. Before we met her, we spoke on the phone to find out if she’d been able to help, and she has always been very responsive and reliable with emails and communication. We would highly recommend Dr Joseph. She has helped our son so much and in turn our family. We are so glad we found her!

Wellbeing Treatment

Branston Court, Branston St, Birmingham B18 6BA, UK – 07486 861003

I have been visiting Mannie for remedial massage, to help with back/shoulder pain due to my job, for some time now. I have been to many therapists over the years but Mannie is by far one of the best I have ever had to pleasure to meet. She is so passionate about the work she does and this is reflected in the professional, skilled and effective treatments she carries out. I always come away from her treatments feeling refreshed and pain free! Her treatment room at Branston Court is lovely and you'll have no problem drifting off whilst she works her magic! I would highly recommend Mannie to anyone seeking a genuine holistic and remedial approach to pain management.

Nuad Thai Massage & spa

The Wing Yip Centre, 278 Thimble Mill Ln, Birmingham B7 5HD, UK – 0121 327 7299

First visit here and it was excellent. Staff were very welcoming and the therapist was very good. Definitely took some tension away from my back and muscles as I gym quite regularly. I will definitely be booking again in the future.

We have been coming here for about a year now, originally a birthday treat. Superb atmosphere and brilliant treatments every time. We've had the traditional Thai, relaxation and deep tissue massages and cannot recommend Nuad Thai enough.
