Banks

Barclays Bank

15 Colmore Row, Birmingham B3 2BH, UK – 0345 734 5345

If you are going to take a lot of money from your account you might be difficult to get cash the same day. It is extremely hard to get 50 Pound notes... Not recommended for turist as they might not have foreign currency...Well Max and Spencer has the best Foreign Exchange. Barcleys Bank is in my opinion very good bank. Great insurance products but not good current account...

Handy location if you work in Birmingham and need an appointment at lunch or straight after work.

Local Chambers of Commerce for B19 3TG. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. What you put in is exactly what you get out. Below is the national site. Watch this slot - it might improve!
Birmingham Register Office

Holliday Wharf, Holliday St, Birmingham B1 1TJ, UK – 0121 675 1000

Couple of things to keep in mind. Make sure you are on time. Even if you are 5 min late, you will be asked to book another appointment. I believe staff is well behaved as long as you follow the guidelines. You will get lot of parking space within 2 min walking 🚶 distance so no issue. If you are going to book a child birth then you can go alone as long as you are in civil partnership. No need to bring you new born. Book 9 AM appointment and you will be served in 5 min. Overall, I had great experience.

Very friendly staff. Will take there time to go through the details with you. Was seen within five minutes of arriving. Brilliant service.

Very well organised staff with supervisor directing people out of the kitchen to serve tables in order and quickly. Great service, served our wine and all courses. Fantastic venue and sure to get conversation started.

Dental Surgeries

Will Murphy Dentistry

51 Newhall St, Birmingham B3 3QR, UK – 0121 236 7630

This is a fantastic dentist, the surgery is well equipped, welcoming and doesn't feel like a traditional dentist. The best thing about the place is the manner in which Will deals with his patients. Always reassuring and trying to do the very best for them. Highly recommended.

I can thoroughly recommend you use Will as your dentist. He delivers a professional, courteous and caring service. He has looked after my dental requirements for many years and my teeth remain in perfect working order. Paul Tracey

Highfield Dental Clinic

Dr Assadi is a warm, loving dentist and the practice is modern and welcoming. Highly recommend!

I had an amazing experience with Dr. Assadi and his team. I couldn't have asked for a better service and care. Thank you so much for your attention and care.

The Dentist in Town

10 The Minories, Birmingham B4 6AG, UK – 0121 236 8681

I can honestly say Tom is THE Dentist in town. Soft spoken and always careful about your comfort there's nowhere else I'd go to get my teeth treated and although my teeth don't need to much work at the moment, I've met people who have been seeing Tom for over 20 years and that says it all. If you work in the city centre it's only a few steps away for a check up, a nice chat and a lovely cuppa'. Thanks Tom and the team!

I am a "newbie" patient at The Dentist in Town and have recently undergone quite a few interventions under Tom's immaculate care. I was made to feel welcome, comfortable and well informed about all the treatments that I required. Tom has restored my faith in Dentistry and I wholeheartedly recommend his service to all those who feel a bit dubious about choosing a dentist. Tom and his wonderful team are must for all those who are of a nervous disposition and looking for an exceptional standard of care.

Hockley Medical Practice

60 Carver St, Birmingham B1 3AL, UK – 0121 554 1757

Cannot agree with this comments. Me and my husband join this GP 4 months ago, we never had any problems. Sometimes I need emergency appointment, I call reception at 8 am and I'm coming to see doctor few hours later. Receptionists are very busy, but they not rude at all. Always try to help you.

I don't recognise the negative descriptions of the receptionists. They have always been efficient, friendly and helpful towards me. I have had to have a number of appointments and I've never had to wait long past my appointment time and I've had great care from all concerned.

Karis Medical Centre

Waterworks Rd, Birmingham B16 9AL, UK – 0121 455 0542

Was initially put off by reviews about unfriendly reception staff, but just handed in my registration and while waiting for that to be sorted noticed that there is way too much work for just 2 receptionists. They mean well and while sometimes blunt are still friendly. Seems to be an all-round good practice.

I receive excellent medical care here. My one gripe is the lunchtime closure.

Dr Bhalla's

Soho Health Centre, 247-251 Soho Road, Birmingham B21 9RY, UK – 0121 465 4479

Courteous polite and professional Always pleasant

Dr Bhalla is a considerate and professional GP, overall the surgery is easy to access, has a ramp for wheelchair users and a large parking area, staff are generally polite and try and see to your needs as best as they can, booking appointments can be tricky, often there will be a wait and the waiting time in the surgery itself can be long but a good surgery none the less

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.

Been to different parishes, I was welcomed wholeheartedly and still today, the family is b intact. The Church incorporates every of its members and you feel the sense of belonging always. Fr Jeremy is a very easy going priest. His sermons are well geared to lifes experience s and congregation relates well with him.did I mention that he speaks almost 6 different languages fluently. St Catherine's is home to so many cultures, I.e Polish, Zimbabwe, Nigerian, Eritrean, west Indies, Iranian, English etc. Always a nice community

Friendly, open church with a diverse congregation.

St Chad's Cathedral (Roman Catholic)

St. Chads Queensway, Birmingham B4 6EU, UK – 0121 236 2251

Amazing ambience and prayerful atmosphere. Large but very personal as well

Remarkable building by Pugin which looks positively Hanseatic and quite out-of-place in the centre of Birmingham. Unlike the Hanseatic churches, however, the interior of this church is bursting with all the trappings of the catholic faith, including relics - the hat of Cardinal Newman is my personal favourite!

The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Birmingham

China Court Restaurant

24 Ladywell Walk, Birmingham B5 4ST, UK – 0121 666 7031

We've never been disappointed here. At really busy times its best to book ahead but we've been lucky on the occasions we've just turned up. The main reason we go is for the dim sum, but theres a good selection of other meal types too. We always order our favourites plus one new dish to try - a couple of times they've been challenging dishes but still tasty :) Don't order with your stomach as you'll end up with too much! Pork rice buns are delicious but filling!

Love the dim sum! Authentic Chinese food at reasonable prices. Our go to place for Sunday lunch.

Manzil Restaurant

112 Digbeth, Birmingham B5 6DT, UK – 0121 643 9589

Great food. Honestly the best dhansak I or my partner have ever had. Only negative is that there is no Cobra Lager on tap, but I can live with bottles beer if the food is this good!

An original Indian Restaurant serving really tasty food. The owner is a very good host who enjoys telling the history of the restaurant

Nursery and Preschools

Edgbaston Kindergarten

415 Gillott Rd, Birmingham B16 9LL, UK – 0121 455 0883

Really wonderful setting. I knew when I first visited to inspect the place and all the older children rushed out of their room to see who I was and ask me questions about my baby that it was right for us. Then I saw a kindergartener be tasked with independently taking an item to another member of staff in a different room, and I was even more sure. The staff here really get to know your kid and how they tick, and they thrive as a result. It's the Montessori way. There's rarely any crying, the kids are always happy and appropriately challenged. Both my kids started at 12 months and left aged 4, picked up their alphabet and numbers quickly and generally loved their time here. It really felt like an extension of the family. They were very supportive of my parenting choices - baby signing, breastfeeding, washable nappies and daytime naps even for 4yr olds, and the kids were happy and secure as a result. My kids still ask to go back to visit, a year later!

Primary and Secondary Schools

Holte Secondary School

Wheeler St, Birmingham B19 2EP, UK – 0121 566 4370

It's a fairly ok school, not perfect and not bad.

Brilliant school to go to with very supportive, helpful teachers; without them, I would not be where I am today. I would highly recommend this school to all parents and guardians.

Stockland Green School

Slade Rd, Birmingham B23 7JH, UK – 0121 566 4300

The school is not too big so it is easy to get around without getting lost. The teachers are very helpful during class and you can always ask them for help. The food in the canteen is alright - they had recently changed the food. Stockland Green is making a few improvements to before. However, there are a few behaviour issues: There have been several fights and the students can be very aggressive towards others, for example there have been a number of students pushing each other while walking up the stairs or throwing food on other people. During lunch, my sister had a piece of an eraser thrown into her food. Not only that, but the school is very unorganised: My science class had a few biology lessons without a biology teacher and we had a test even when we haven't had a teacher for several days. I also don't like the fact that all payments have to made online now. The school doesn't have a few subjects because of the staff shortage, subjects like business and childcare. They also don't allow the students to choose whether they would like to do either geography or history or triple science because the school chooses for them, which is unfair. I think the school would get more than 3 stars if they are more organised and gave the students more freedom on what they choose to do for year 9, 10 and 11.

I loved this school because inside of this school their are students who have respect for their own peers and teachers
