Banks

TSB Bank

22a Great Hampton St, Birmingham B18 6AH, UK – 0121 307 9986

Unlike the nightmarish branch on New Street, this branchmake the process of banking so much more relaxing, probably because it's located in Jewelry Quarter and have very friendly staffs. Ash, the manager came over to help setting up a joint account and he made the whole experience so much less stressful. Would definitely recommend banking at this particular branch.

Very very friendly and professional staffs and this branch really do care for their customers. I recommend others to do banking with TSB bank as they provide excellent services and promotional offers to their customers.

Local Chambers of Commerce for B19 3TG. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. Birmingham Town Hall

Victoria Square, Birmingham B3 3DQ, UK – 0121 780 3333

I came here last year in December for the Geeta Brothers concert. The hall inside is very spacious and the seats are comfy. We sat through 3 hours and had a break mid way. It was a bit difficult finding the toilets and the drinks are pricey. There are different entrances inside and it helps finding these when it gets busy.

Birmingham Christmas Market 2017. This event is one of the best, mainly German fare, Christmas markets in the UK. Be brave & try some good old fashioned bartering for Christmas gifts ~ some beautifully unique items to more affordable gifts. Plenty of Bratwurst & mulled wine to go round plus the market stretches along the main shopping street so coffee at Costa or a tasty baguette at Subway are all there amongst best UK's high street stores. Singing reindeer! German beers. Intricate glass globes & cosy suede moccasins. German candle carousel's, confectionery & 'nuts & bolts' characters are all here. From bargains to luxury goods. Guaranteed to get you into the Christmas spirit!

Novos Dental Clinic

191-193 Birchfield Rd, Birmingham B19 1LL, UK – 0121 515 1594

Fantastic all round. Went to see Dr Jogiat at his newly refurbished clinic Novos Dental and left feeling great. Good service, knowledgable, modern and great staff. Will be recommending to all friends and family for all their dental needs. Keep up the good work guys.

I cannot praise this dental practice enough! They have a brilliant team, great quality atmosphere and environment, with the practice located relatively close to the city centre so easy to get to. I've always been sceptical of dentists but Dr Jogiat was very clear about the options available and I felt supported to make the best decision for me rather than feeling pressured to have an expensive option. Excellent invisalign options and their facilities are very high-tech, which was quite a shock compared to my childhood dentist visits! The prices were very reasonable and within my price range compared to other quotes I received. Thank you to everyone at Novos!

Handsworth Dental Practice

276 Rookery Rd, Birmingham B21 9QG, UK – 0121 554 2424

Small Heath Medical Practice

2 Great Wood Rd, Birmingham B10 9QE, UK – 0121 766 8828

I would agree with other reviewers about the doctors being respectful and attentive to the needs of patients. Dr Sweeney is by far the best doctor here , in my opinion. They do have a habit now of getting things wrong- my prescription was sent to a pharmacy for no reason at all without my instruction or consent. Compounding matters even further, the wrong items were issued so i had to go back to the surgery. Such errors are tremendously inconvenient and have been occuring with a disturbing frequency. Occasionally receptionists can be a little rude but as its not an endemic problem i just put it down to a bad day, they do have to contend with a whole array of different patients from the pleasant to the pugnacious.

Always been a first rate medical centre with innovative ideas. Can't recall a situation that warranted a complaint. I've been under their care over 45 years!

The Doctors at this place are really great, they give you time listen to your problems and do what they can to the maximum Dr O'brien Dr Murray and Dr G Suthi are the doctors I have seen so far and all of them make you feel like you are in Safe Hands the practice manager Manjit is exceptionally helpful and from what I have experienced she is on top of anything she gets thrown at her and will go that extra mile to make sure to get any queries sorted best GP surgery :)

Over the last 4 years this practice has just been great, the whole team work together to help provide the best service they can. before moving here Lived in the leafy suburbs of Droitwich and to be honest I expected the practice here to be much worse than the one I was used to, in fact it is much better. Thanks especially to Dr O'Brien

Its is a great school.

Aston Parish Church

Witton Ln, Birmingham B6 6QA, UK – 0121 327 3880

Welcome to Aston Parish Church Birmingham. The church’ name has its origins in 100 years of dispute as Aston fought against being taken over by Birmingham. In 1911 Aston was absorbed by Birmingham, but there are still reminders of the 19th century municipal strife. There has been a church on the site in all three millennia. The tower, built in 1480 and the huge Victorian church structure make a clear statement about the wealth of the area until the Holte estate was divided up and sold off in 1817. Until 200 years ago, Aston was a more important place than Birmingham. The history of the church cannot be separated from the history of Aston and local people

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Birmingham

Adam's Restaurant

New Oxford House, 16 Waterloo St, Birmingham B2 5UG, UK – 0121 643 3745

Went with a friend for dinner. We pretty much ordered everything: tasting menu, additional courses, and two selections of wine pairing. Food was great of course, and the waiter has sufficient knowledge for the wine which was undoubtedly a pleasant experience. However I probably expected more creativity in the dishes. Being a foodie who tend to try nice and different cuisines globally, I personally think there was a lack of wow factor. It was definitely worth trying but I don’t feel the urge to go back, especially with the price I paid.

I was fortunate enough to be taken here for my birthday for the tasting menu. It was simply great. Although I felt the drinks were quite expensive, perhaps this is normal for other Michelin star restaurants, we are definitely hoping to return. The taster menu was so much more than what we expected, in terms for flavours and experiences. We still tell every one about Adam's whenever we mention amazing food. The staff were helpful without being intrusive, very attentive. Thanks to all at Adams for making our visit so special.

Chung Ying

16-18 Wrottesley St, Birmingham China Town, Birmingham B5 4RT, UK – 0121 622 5669

It is a mid point stop from London toward Manchester. Would be good to find a Chinese restaurant for dim sum lunch. Very packed, but we managed to find a place. Parking is convenient, right outside the restaurant has plenty of room. Dim sum is of standard, we didn't order main courses. The price is good although we plan to spend more.

This is definitely one of the best Chinese Birmingham. I saw a good friend at this restaurant which was a nice coincidence. He said that it was very nice as well saying that the other prawn and crab meat dumplings was a speciality and a must try. My favourite was the soup dumplings and the chicken feet. The exterior of the restaurant was really nice and the interior was well furnished. The staff were friendly and the toilets are decent. Overall the restaurant was really nice and I would return again. Highly recommend it.

Bill's Birmingham Restaurant

Bullring Shopping Centre, Bullring, Birmingham B5 4BE, UK – 0121 643 7125

A nice place to grab lunch. The main reason I went in was the decor, and it always looks popular. Saturdays there's always a queue outside. The food is good and the staff helpful. However, the staff are usually quite busy because of the number of customers. I intend to go back and explore the menu further. I wouldn't queue though. Unless you can sit outside and the weather is nice, its not worth it. I struggle to understand the popularity to be honest. Its nice, but not a twenty-deep queue nice. There are better places in Birmingham.

Bill's is Brill. Been to both the Glasgow and this Birmingham branch now and both are fantastic. Very professional, fast and friendly staff. Food to die for and reasonably priced. Great relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for a brunch before hitting the shops after a lie in.

Nursery and Preschools

Lime Tree Day Nursery and Preschool

300 Gillott Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham B16 0RR, UK – 0121 455 6026

My nephew attends this fantastic nursery and I couldn't be more impressed! His development has come on in leaps and bounds since starting. The staff are amazing and so helpful. Always available and happy to assist with any queries or issues. I would definitely recommend to others.

Edgbaston Nursery School

41 Calthorpe Rd, Birmingham B15 1TS, UK – 0121 455 7887

I have gone through so many Nurseries. I visited maybe 10 and joined 2 for maximum 2 weeks but none was as good as this nursery. They care about the child they let them play outside often. They have HALAL meals. And most important that they work as a family.

My son has attended Edgbaston nursery school from baby room right through to pre school,I cant rate this nursery highly enough. I now have my second son joining after Xmas as I am going back to work after maternity leave, and I'm so happy to leave him as my first son loves it, The staff are very friendly and go out of there way to do as much as possible to make my son feel special. I receive text messages on how my son is doing and what activities they are doing during the day and I love it, it stops me from calling all the time to see how he is, Although sometime I do its so nice to hear he is ok and the staff are happy to explain how he is and put him on the phone to talk to me if I need to ...happy mommy :-)

Edgbaston Kindergarten

413-415 Gillott Rd, Birmingham B16 9LL, UK – 0121 455 0883

Really wonderful setting. I knew when I first visited to inspect the place and all the older children rushed out of their room to see who I was and ask me questions about my baby that it was right for us. Then I saw a kindergartener be tasked with independently taking an item to another member of staff in a different room, and I was even more sure. The staff here really get to know your kid and how they tick, and they thrive as a result. It's the Montessori way. There's rarely any crying, the kids are always happy and appropriately challenged. Both my kids started at 12 months and left aged 4, picked up their alphabet and numbers quickly and generally loved their time here. It really felt like an extension of the family. They were very supportive of my parenting choices - baby signing, breastfeeding, washable nappies and daytime naps even for 4yr olds, and the kids were happy and secure as a result. My kids still ask to go back to visit, a year later!

St. Georges School

31 Calthorpe Rd, Birmingham B15 1RX, UK – 0121 625 0398

The best school ever. I went to this school for 5 years and not one day did I ever feel any regret because everyone treated me with respect and love just like a second intimate family. You will get to know everyone because its our own small community and the enrichment activities are full of a wide range of choices on Wednesday afternoons. Also, the teachers are amazing and supportive and they will help you as much as they can. My experience has been amazing and if you work hard then you will acheive great things and your teachers will be immensely proud. Thank you to all my teachers who helped me get the best GCSE results ever....

My main aims for my child in choosing this school was to find a school to meet her social and educational development needs. That she would enjoy attending, learn social skills and make friends. And gain an education which recognises her potential and encourages her to achieve through positive teaching support. She has attended for a year and a half now and she is happy, feels supported and made friends. The school has been very much the right choice for her. She has made progress in all areas of the curriculum, and especially her artistic and making skills. The staff support pastorally has been key in ensuring she has participated in school life. The school population is mixed with regards diversity and integrates children who may be have additional educational needs very well.
