Barclays Bank

15 Colmore Row, Birmingham B3 2BH, UK – 0345 734 5345

If you are going to take a lot of money from your account you might be difficult to get cash the same day. It is extremely hard to get 50 Pound notes... Not recommended for turist as they might not have foreign currency...Well Max and Spencer has the best Foreign Exchange. Barcleys Bank is in my opinion very good bank. Great insurance products but not good current account...

Handy location if you work in Birmingham and need an appointment at lunch or straight after work.

Local Chambers of Commerce for B19 3TG. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. What you put in is exactly what you get out. Below is the national site. Watch this slot - it might improve!

Birmingham Register Office

Holliday Wharf, Holliday St, Birmingham B1 1TJ, UK – 0121 675 1000

Couple of things to keep in mind. Make sure you are on time. Even if you are 5 min late, you will be asked to book another appointment. I believe staff is well behaved as long as you follow the guidelines. You will get lot of parking space within 2 min walking 🚶 distance so no issue. If you are going to book a child birth then you can go alone as long as you are in civil partnership. No need to bring you new born. Book 9 AM appointment and you will be served in 5 min. Overall, I had great experience.

Very friendly staff. Will take there time to go through the details with you. Was seen within five minutes of arriving. Brilliant service.

Banqueting Suite at the Council House

Victoria Square, Birmingham B1 1BB, UK – 0121 303 2050

Very well organised staff with supervisor directing people out of the kitchen to serve tables in order and quickly. Great service, served our wine and all courses. Fantastic venue and sure to get conversation started.

What a great place for a conference. The rooms are fabulous and the catering for lunch was really good. The staff at the venue are also really helpful and were on hand at all times.

Dental Surgeries

The Dentist At Liberty Place

Sheepcote St, Birmingham B16 8AE, UK – 0121 633 9535

This place is absolutely fantastic. The staff are so lovely and professional. My dentist Colin is the best dentist I've ever had. He's so kind and encouraging and very gentle. I've had 6 fillings by him and none of them hurt after the numbness wore off. Highly recommend it. I know I won't go to anyone else for dental work.

First visit today. I felt cared for and every member of staff was exceptionally polite. The dentist, Colin, was brilliant and made all the information as simple as possible, managing not to scare me!! Then I saw the hygienist- I do not think my teeth have ever been this clean!! I joined the membership I was so impressed.

The Dentist in Town

10 The Minories, Birmingham B4 6AG, UK – 0121 236 8681

I can honestly say Tom is THE Dentist in town. Soft spoken and always careful about your comfort there's nowhere else I'd go to get my teeth treated and although my teeth don't need to much work at the moment, I've met people who have been seeing Tom for over 20 years and that says it all. If you work in the city centre it's only a few steps away for a check up, a nice chat and a lovely cuppa'. Thanks Tom and the team!

I am a "newbie" patient at The Dentist in Town and have recently undergone quite a few interventions under Tom's immaculate care. I was made to feel welcome, comfortable and well informed about all the treatments that I required. Tom has restored my faith in Dentistry and I wholeheartedly recommend his service to all those who feel a bit dubious about choosing a dentist. Tom and his wonderful team are must for all those who are of a nervous disposition and looking for an exceptional standard of care.

Will Murphy Dentistry

51 Newhall St, Birmingham B3 3QR, UK – 0121 236 7630

This is a fantastic dentist, the surgery is well equipped, welcoming and doesn't feel like a traditional dentist. The best thing about the place is the manner in which Will deals with his patients. Always reassuring and trying to do the very best for them. Highly recommended.

I can thoroughly recommend you use Will as your dentist. He delivers a professional, courteous and caring service. He has looked after my dental requirements for many years and my teeth remain in perfect working order. Paul Tracey

Dr Bhalla's

Soho Health Centre, 247-251 Soho Road, Birmingham B21 9RY, UK – 0121 465 4479

Courteous polite and professional Always pleasant

Dr Bhalla is a considerate and professional GP, overall the surgery is easy to access, has a ramp for wheelchair users and a large parking area, staff are generally polite and try and see to your needs as best as they can, booking appointments can be tricky, often there will be a wait and the waiting time in the surgery itself can be long but a good surgery none the less

Attended a@e today, and I have to say the service was excellent, all the staff we came into contact with were really helpful and polite. One member of staff really stood out her name is Gulshan ( a nurse) I found her to be professional, caring, and nothing was to much trouble for her. she explained everything she was doing and kept us updated as to where we would be going after a@e, she is a credit to your hospital

Outstanding and excellent care given to my mother. Amazing doctors, nurses and all the staff who work there. Wonderful people! Truly gifted and talented! Cannot praise them enough for how they treated my unwell mother and for that I'm grateful!

Excellent staff, very professional and great at dealing with kids, for whom this could be a a scary place without the staffs ability to put them at ease. Our 3 month old was very well looked after here.

Friendly staff. Clean. Not overly delayed waiting times. Plenty of books and toys for kids. Lovely atmosphere and bright and friendly decor. Excellent.

St Catherine's is home to so many cultures, I.e Polish, Zimbabwe, Nigerian, Eritrean, west Indies, Iranian, English etc. Always a nice community

Find Recycling Centres

Simply Shred & Recycle

27 Colmore Row, Birmingham B3 2EW, UK – 0800 234 6622

I am a small company but had accumulated some years worth of confidential material. I needed to dispose of it the bast way possible as it held customer addresses and security details. When I looked around there were a vast array of companies offering a shredding service and the prices varied massively. Some companies offered to 'do it all for 50 quid'. I later found out that all they did was flytip it. No thanks. Simply Shred came in and were very straight forward and the pricing was simple to understand....and was the cheapest too!! Decided to go with them and the service was brilliant. The truck arrived outside on time and the guys moved everything for me and destroyed it there and then and gave me a destruction certificate to show I was doing things the right way. Since then have decided to use them on a regular basis by having their units put in so all I have to do is fill them up and once a month they come and empty them. Brilliant. Why didn't I do this years ago!?

EMR Birmingham

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Jimmy Spices

5A, Regency Wharf, Broad St, Birmingham B1 2DS, UK – 0121 643 2111

Delicious food, good variety even for me (a vegetarian) and empty plates were taken promptly. Downside is it's upstairs for those with mobility problems. Also they add 10% to the bill for service which was okay but bit great. Had to ask for a drink and it took a while, also had a dirty knife. Still overall if you have a deal like we did it was well worth it.

Nice food, ambience, staff. a bit costly though. I will still say it was Value for money.

Nursery and Preschools

Edgbaston Kindergarten

415 Gillott Rd, Birmingham B16 9LL, UK – 0121 455 0883

Really wonderful setting. I knew when I first visited to inspect the place and all the older children rushed out of their room to see who I was and ask me questions about my baby that it was right for us. Then I saw a kindergartener be tasked with independently taking an item to another member of staff in a different room, and I was even more sure. The staff here really get to know your kid and how they tick, and they thrive as a result. It's the Montessori way. There's rarely any crying, the kids are always happy and appropriately challenged. Both my kids started at 12 months and left aged 4, picked up their alphabet and numbers quickly and generally loved their time here. It really felt like an extension of the family. They were very supportive of my parenting choices - baby signing, breastfeeding, washable nappies and daytime naps even for 4yr olds, and the kids were happy and secure as a result. My kids still ask to go back to visit, a year later!

Primary and Secondary Schools

Holte Secondary School

Wheeler St, Birmingham B19 2EP, UK – 0121 566 4370

Brilliant school to go to with very supportive, helpful teachers; without them, I would not be where I am today. I would highly recommend this school to all parents and guardians.

It's safe for your child to be there and academically they deliver 80% of the time during lessons. however when it comes to events or your child's social interaction at school its quite banal (unless your Asian). - If your black don't attend you'll be super bored. - If you want to attend sixform then you're in luck the teachers are great & will give you major help. --------------------------overall its a SOCIALDEADZONE if you attend this school/sixform---------------------
