Local Chambers of Commerce for B19 3TG. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. Birmingham Town Hall

Victoria Square, Birmingham B3 3DQ, UK – 0121 780 3333

The first of the monumental town halls that would come to characterise the cities of Victorian England, Birmingham Town Hall was also the first significant work of the 19th-century revival of Roman architecture, a style chosen here in the context of the highly charged radicalism of 1830s Birmingham for its republican associations. The design was based on the proportions of the Temple of Castor and Pollux in the Roman Forum. "Perfect and aloof" on a tall, rusticated podium, it marked an entirely new concept in English architecture. It was created as a home for the Birmingham Triennial Music Festival established in 1784, the purpose of which was to raise funds for the General Hospital, after St Philip's Church (later to become a Cathedral) became too small to hold the festival, and for public meetings. The hall underwent a major renovation between 2002 and 2008. It now hosts a diverse programme of events including jazz, world, folk, rock, pop and classical concerts, organ recitals, spoken word, dance, family, educational and community performances, as well as annual general meetings, product launches, conferences, dinners, fashion shows, graduation ceremonies and broadcasts.

A great venue. Went here for a Sufi Music concert, very good sound acoustics although the sound guy could have increased the treble a little. It is not very big, when compared to for example the Barclaycard Arena- but that is a good point because it means even if you buy a tickets quite far back you can still see the stage.

Dental Surgeries

Will Murphy Dentistry

51 Newhall St, Birmingham B3 3QR, UK – 0121 236 7630

I have been with Will for over 20 years, in fact since he took over the practice when it was upstairs in the building. I soon had my first two implants and now have nine. I have always been treated in a friendly and yet professional manner and believe that Will has always done his best to sort out my problems. He puts a lot of thought into planning his work, using the best materials. I would never dream of going abroad to have implants. The process isn’t as quick and easy as people think! Having a good set of teeth is the best way to stay looking as young as possible. Long may Will and his team be able to help his customers achieve this. I cannot thank Will enough!

Will Murphy has been my dentist ever since he established his practice in Newhall Street. Whether it is routine treatment or more advanced procedures I have always regarded him as a good dentist who can put me at ease. When I was to have an implant, he sent me for a CT scan as his own tests did not give a clear enough result. This gives me confidence that he will always take care to give the best treatment.

Small Heath Medical Practice

2 Great Wood Rd, Birmingham B10 9QE, UK – 0121 766 8828

I would agree with other reviewers about the doctors being respectful and attentive to the needs of patients. Dr Sweeney is by far the best doctor here , in my opinion. They do have a habit now of getting things wrong- my prescription was sent to a pharmacy for no reason at all without my instruction or consent. Compounding matters even further, the wrong items were issued so i had to go back to the surgery. Such errors are tremendously inconvenient and have been occuring with a disturbing frequency. Occasionally receptionists can be a little rude but as its not an endemic problem i just put it down to a bad day, they do have to contend with a whole array of different patients from the pleasant to the pugnacious.

The doctors are the very best. They listen to you and are very polite, thanks to all Doctors and nurses

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Birmingham

The Atrium and Brasserie Restaurant

University College Birmingham, Summer Row, Birmingham B3 1JB, UK – 0121 604 1010

I have been to the Atrium twice and really loved it. It's a really lovely space, relaxing and professional. The food is lovely and a good choice (for someone who doesn't eat pork it was great to see options without it ~ some other places tend to have this too much ~ even in the vegetables and with fish dishes). It was nice for a complementary drink before the meal. The menus were fun in lighting up 😊 The prices are so reasonable for the quality of food and service you get. The students and teachers are really great very welcoming but not in your face. The toilets were clean. I would really recommend.

Food is delicious and the portions are very generous. Great for gatherings.

Bill's Birmingham Restaurant

Bullring Shopping Centre, Bullring, Birmingham B5 4BE, UK – 0121 643 7125

Just picked up an amazing takeaway burger from Bills in the Bullring. Super amazing and friendly staff- the front of house delivered as well as the kitchen. Tasty food worth the price paid.

Food was very nice and fresh and the lunch menu was very good value albeit the portion sizes were a bit small and we were still hungry afterwards. Desserts were beautiful especially the pancakes. We waited to be seated which was to be expected however there were lots of free tables we could see on the balcony so not sure why. When seated the table was not clean and hadn't been wiped down. We ordered drinks and waited almost 20 minutes for them!!! Staff were friendly but service was extremely slow. It got to the point where we had to ask for our bill before dessert came to ensure we left in a timely fashion. Overall decent food, decent value but could do with bigger portions, friendly staff but very slow service. Would I rush back, probably not.

The Mailbox, Wharfside St, Birmingham B1 1RL, UK – 0121 643 5605

I have been to this restaurant before and it was good. This time, the dining experience was poor. Pasta lacked flavour and it was dry with little sauce. The tables were not cleaned properley. I had to attract the attention of the waiting staff several times before to getting the bill. Cleanliness 2/5 Service 2/5 Price 3/5 Quality 3/5 The Food Standard Agency rated 5/5, 'Very Good'. Last inspected 25th October 2017.

Great food and service. Five of us walked in on a busy Saturday and staff found space to squeeze us in despite no booking.
